THE CHALLENGE

The leadership moment

Strong AI ideas were not yet a repeatable enterprise motion.

The organization could create promising technical prototypes, but sellers, builders, and customers encountered a fragmented path from discovery to deployment. Each new asset risked becoming a one-off: different framing, different interaction patterns, uneven readiness, and no durable model for prioritization or post-release maintenance. The challenge was larger than designing individual experiences. We needed a portfolio operating system that could decide what to build, translate emerging AI into customer value, create a coherent journey across channels, and keep every released solution ready for real customer conversations.

MY MANDATE

Lead the design function from first assets to portfolio scale.

DECISION

I began hands-on, leading design incubation for Chat with Your Data and Knowledge Mining, the program’s first two accelerators. As the portfolio grew, my role expanded to overall design direction and experience strategy across 60+ public solutions and an internal portfolio tailored to priority industries.

I began hands-on with Chat with Your Data and Knowledge Mining, then scaled design direction across 60+ public solutions and priority-industry assets.

SYSTEM

I directed 4–6 designers at peak and shaped product and engineering decisions across up to four concurrent multidisciplinary pods. I partnered with product and engineering leads on opportunity framing, asset scoping, quarterly investment decisions, quality, release readiness, and maintenance.

OPERATING MOVES

MOVE 01 — Start with two assets—and design the system behind them. For Chat with Your Data and Knowledge Mining, I helped define v1 scope, success criteria, milestones, exit criteria, and the division of work across design and engineering. The goal was not simply to ship two experiences. It was to learn what the organization would need to repeatedly transform technical capability into a coherent enterprise solution. This early work established the foundation for reusable experience patterns, clearer intake, parallel design and engineering workstreams, milestone reviews, and post-release practices.

MOVE 01 — Start with two assets—and design the system behind them. For Chat with Your Data and Knowledge Mining, I helped define v1 scope, success criteria, milestones, and reusable delivery practices.

MOVE 02 — Turn a collection of projects into a managed portfolio. With product and engineering leaders, I co-owned the operating cadence from opportunity framing and backlog readiness through asset scoping and quarterly prioritization. I introduced clearer proposals, reusable templates, and cross-disciplinary working sessions that accelerated alignment and reduced repetitive design work. Recent systemization enabled three consecutive technical assets to be scoped in under one week. The more important shift was organizational: teams had a shared mechanism for deciding what was ready, where design capacity should go, and how to move from ambiguity into execution.

MOVE 03 — Connect discovery, decision, and technical execution. Sellers were navigating fragmented internal and public surfaces. I set the experience strategy for a unified journey across the internal field portal, product landing pages, and GitHub—shifting from technical-pattern-first navigation to outcome-led discovery. I co-led a three-day workshop with 17 design, product, engineering, and leadership stakeholders. Together we mapped the journey, identified 59 opportunities, defined three priority areas, explored 19 concepts, and built six functional prototypes. The resulting model clarified the roles of each channel and repositioned GitHub from static documentation into a guided execution layer organized around Deploy, Configure, and Customize pathways. Median discovery time fell from 7–8 minutes to approximately 1 minute · Internal seller usage increased 30% · Public traffic grew 4×.

MOVE 03 — Connect discovery, decision, and technical execution. A three-day workshop with 17 stakeholders produced 59 opportunities, three priority areas, 19 concepts, and six prototypes—reducing seller discovery from 7–8 minutes to approximately 1 minute.

MOVE 04 — Make every asset safe to use in front of a customer. An accelerator only creates commercial value when sellers trust that it will work. In partnership with engineering and product leaders, I co-built a $2M annual reliability operation and helped establish a 30+ person Persistent partner team in India to maintain the portfolio. We created the operating model, leadership narratives, health visibility, review cadence, and 24-hour smoke-testing discipline required to keep assets customer-ready. I provided design direction across bugs, enhancements, and maintenance until the partner team became self-sufficient. After stabilizing the program over six months, I transitioned ongoing ownership to another leader.

MOVE 05 — Apply the operating system to a new frontier.

During a six-month Copilot Agents assignment, I led design and cross-functional decisions from opportunity framing through release. The portfolio included Agent for Sales RFP, a Multi-Agent Compliance Contract Reviewer, and other agentic experiences spanning customer care, contract processing, and HR service. I helped define taxonomy, use-case altitude, publishing pathways, reusable storytelling, and phased handoffs so the team could move beyond isolated demos toward a repeatable agentic-solution model.

CLOSING

The design outcome was not a screen. It was an organization that could scale AI with confidence. This work demonstrates how I lead at enterprise scale: begin close to the technology, make the value tangible, create the decision and delivery system around it, and build the governance and operational trust required for global adoption.
